September 7, 2009 Holiday Exemption

Last September 4, 2009, Malacañang proclaimed September 7 as a special non-working day in lieu of the interment of Iglesia ni Cristo ( Church of Christ ) leader Ka Eraño “Erdy” Manalo . A company announcement was released to all Philippines to inform employees on the holiday, and the corresponding premium or compensatory time offs to be granted to employees who will be reporting to work that day.

On September 5, 2009, the Office of the President notified the media about the BPO and electronics industry being exempted from the holiday proclamation. The actual document (Proclamation 1874B), containing the details of the proclamation, was released a few days after September 7, which officially confirmed the holiday exemption.

With these developments, APS will hold on to the latest proclamation and will treat September 7, 2009 as a regular work day, thus the 30% premium for the day will no longer be applicable.
